It is possible to produce a variable that becomes nondirectional, at any scale, including blocks of any size (change of support). By averaging linear FF or RQD measurements on a block support V, and because it involves all possible directions, we derive a quantity that can represent the average volumetric rock quality and size of intact material (one can call it RQD(V) and FF(V)). Such a change of support will then depend on other hypotheses such as, for example, the average length of the fractures or a local distribution of these lengths, parameters that are often used in geotechnics for simulating fracture networks. In the particular case of an isotropic fracture network, this can be done at a block support and conditioned by the parameters coming from the geostatistical analysis of the samples.
